It all started when printmaking graduate Michelle Galletta wanted to make an embroidered doll for her niece but couldn’t find a pattern that felt quite right, so she decided to make her own. She taught herself to embroider and created a set of three owl dolls, discovering a love for the craft somewhere along the way. The colourful threads, endless variety of stitches, and simple joy of making something by hand stuck with her. After a few years spent building her skills and dreaming up new designs, Michelle launched Kiriki Press in 2012 with seven patterns. The collection has continued to grow since then, while staying true to Michelle’s original vision of giving others the chance to discover the creativity and joy that comes with making something by hand.
